Presentation of the notifications received

An overview of complaints received between 2022 and 2024

Federal complaints office

The federal complaints office received 27 complaints in 2022. Recommendations for action were then drafted and sent to the institutions concerned. For 13 complaints, there was no feedback from the public body to the complaints body. The complaints office cannot make a statement as to whether these barriers have been remedied. The affected institution responded to all other complaints and outlined the way to remedy the barriers or eliminated them immediately, according to its own information.

In 2023, 15 complaints reached the complaints offie. With the exception of one case, all affected facilities responded and outlined the way to remove the barrier or informed about the removal that had already taken place. It is assumed that the follow-up emails of the complaints office introduced in 2023 (2 months after the first contact) contributed to this high response rate.

In 2024, the federal complaints office dealt with 22 complaints from January to October. By October 2024, the complaints office had received 9 responses from the entity concerned. In it, the facilities described the way to remove the barriers or informed about the removal that had already taken place. 13 feedbacks are still pending as of October 2024.

In the years 2022 to 2024, at the request of the complainants, the complaints office forwarded a total of 6 complaints to the Disability Attorney's Office.

Complaints were forwarded to the relevant competent body to rectify the problems and subsequently worked on. In 70% of cases, the barrier was quickly removed. Frequently, the complaints office received feedback that the website would soon be revised and the errors would then be corrected.

Since 2022, the Lower Austrian anti-discrimination agency has registered 3 complaints. The affected entities responded to the complaint within a few days and the reported barriers were remedied.

In the province of Tyrol, 3 complaints were received between 2022 and 2024. Barriers have been removed in all cases. In 2 of the 3 cases, feedback from the institutions was well received and work could be done on the problem. In one case, there was no feedback, but the suggestions for improvement were implemented after a longer processing time.

In Vienna, there was a complaint case at the end of 2023, which led to a positive outcome in the context of a conciliation procedure at the beginning of 2024. However, implementation was delayed because the removal of the barrier required greater technical effort. The institution concerned was cooperative and quickly sought solutions.

No complaints were received in the provinces of Burgenland, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria and Vorarlberg between 2022 and 2024.
