In-depth checks websites

Detailed results of the in-depth checks of the reviewed websites

In 2022, a total of around 460 sub-pages were checked for accessibility for the 23 incoming checks of websites. In 2023, there were also 23 incoming checks of websites, around 400 subpages, and in 2024, again 23 incoming checks of websites, around 390 subpages were checked.

Detailed information on the procedure is described under Methodological details.

Conformity status of all in-depth checked websites

Monitoring period

In the in-depth checks of the websites, 92 criteria were checked in each case. The site with the least unfulfilled criteria does not meet 13 criteria. 13% of websites do not meet fewer than 20 criteria. About half of the websites (52%) do not meet at least 20 but less than 30 criteria. 35% of websites do not meet more than 30 criteria. The site with the most unfulfilled criteria does not meet 37 criteria. This means that all thoroughly checked websites are partially compatible with the accessibility requirements – they meet at least 50% of the checked criteria, but less than 100%. If you consider only the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) (49 checked criteria) and do not include the other criteria from EN 301 549 in the calculation, the compatibility with the selection of the criteria is as follows (conformity with WCAG):

  • Fully compatible (100% of WCAG criteria met): 0% (no checked website)
  • Partially compatible (atleast (at least)50% of WCAG criteria met): 61% of websites checked
  • Not compatible (below 50% of WCAG criteria met): 39% of websites checked

For the calculations, valuations with "not applicable" were attributed to valuations with "fulfilled".

Monitoring result by number of WCAG criteria not met

Monitoring period

For the incoming checks of the websites, 49 WCAG criteria were reviewed. No website meets all the criteria. The site with the least unfulfilled criteria does not meet 14 criteria. About three-quarters of websites do not meet 21 to 30 criteria. The site with the most unfulfilled criteria does not meet 32 criteria.
On average, the websites did not meet 24 criteria.

Monitoring result additional criteria from EN 301 549

In addition to the WCAG criteria, other criteria from the European standard EN 301 549 must also be reviewed as part of the monitoring. For websites, additional clauses from the following chapters of the standard are relevant:

  • Chapter 5 "Generic requirements"
  • Chapter 6 "ICT with two-way voice communication"
  • Chapter 7 "ICT with video capabilities"
  • Chapter 9 "Web"
  • Chapter 11 "Software"
  • Chapter 12 "Documentation and support services"

To a large extent, these criteria refer to special cases, such as two-way voice communication, real-time text or authoring tools. Therefore, these criteria are not applicable in many cases.
