Selection of apps
For the selection and distribution of the sample of websites for the years 2022, 2023 and 2024
For the calculation of the sample size in Austria, the apps are based on the resident population as of 1 January 2019 according to Statistik Austria.
The sample of federal apps consists of a targeted selection and a random selection.
- Monitoring period 2022: an app from the targeted selection (designation of interest representation, re-examination), rest from the random selection taking into account the download numbers
- Monitoring period 2023: four apps from the targeted selection (designations of interest groups, re-examination), rest from the random selection taking into account the download numbers
- Monitoring period 2024: two apps from the targeted selection (designations of interest groups, re-examination), remainder from the random selection taking into account the download figures
In the random selection, the download numbers of the apps were taken into account for the sampling and apps that were downloaded more often were preferably included in the sample (download numbers according to the Google Play Store).

In 2022, Vienna reviewed more apps than required by the Directive. As a result, the number of apps audited was higher this year.
For the samples, the operating systems Android and iOS and only the latest versions of the respective apps were taken into account.

Re-examinations
From the second monitoring period (2022), the sample must consist of at least 10% (and a maximum of 50%) of websites and apps that have already been audited in the previous monitoring period.
